I am hoping that you are felling better, I have been able to stem the return of weight at 10lbs since the vacation, not much of an achievement. It seems hard to understand that you need to schedule time to relax just as you need to schedule time to exercise; at this point I am doing neither. I will have to make a change.

Glad to hear nothing more serious turned up. "Cardiac Incident" doesn't sound good. Have you had a stress test? This might be a good time to get checked out thoroughly by a cardiologist.

If people felt that strongly about it, I guess they could start wearing one of the thin, auto-inflate units you can get at Bass Pro Shops, etc. I think they start around $100...
I think the line is taking a practical approach to a problem that they will be dinged for no matter what. Obviously the safest ship is one that is never built...no chance of sinking there. I tend to agree with Jamie, and I keep having flashbacks to the scene in "Airplane" of people climbing over seats, etc. when told to remain calm! (come to think about it, that flight attendant's lifevest inflated into a rubberduckie...maybe they should use those!

Paul, have you spoken to your "contact" at the USCG about this? ;-) I would think that if they and SOLAS are okay with this, then it is okay. I don't think RCI is being cheap, just more practical. Hey maybe you could buy a lifejacket for your cabin, just like the "chops" steak in the DR. Maybe that would satisfy those who are unhappy..............

I'm on the side that says it doesn't make sense to return to your cabin in a case of an emergency. After all, what if the emergency situation is located en-route to your cabin? At the end of the day, if the USCG and SOLAS approve this 'change' then I will be satisfied as these guys sure knows what they're doing.

As a long time "driller" at work, I still take the words of my co-worker (since retired) “I’m not moving until I smell smoke, then get out of my way” I am uncertain as to why one has to have a life jacket in there cabin, as it will just cause confusion and additional injury in the event of a “real emergency”
I cite the example of the last administrator (as he is no longer with us) who in an effort to make the drill more realistic “showed emotion in his voice” and told the staff to get out the building, unfortunately, many of them did, leaving there charges to their own devices, good luck, God speed. It was chaos as you could imagine with traffic, lost children and panicked parents.
The lesson learned: in the event of a real emergency your “drill” mileage may vary.

Those questions from 'Maximus' :-) Regarding the fresh / salt water pools on Royal Caribbean ships: We were on 'Mariner of the Seas' back in 2004, and one of the main pools was salt water and the other one fresh. Don't know if its still like that. We have been on Majesty of the Seas in January and Freedom of the Seas in February of this year, and on neither of them we've found salt water in the pools. We're embarking on Monarch in 4 weeks, will do some tongue experimentation, exclusively for Crown Cast!

I would have to say it's the 'Song of Norway'.
The emblems of the trio ('Song of Norway', 'Nordic Prince' and 'Sun Viking') are pretty similar, so I can’t really make a decision based on that. I base my decision on the green carpet around the pool. I have seen the other two ships with blue carpet. Maybe that was after a renovation? Who knows?

We had moved everything upstairs to do the podcast with the TV show. So when we got back from vacation we moved it all back downstairs and hooked it all back up. It may just be that it need to be balanced again. I think I need to do some more balancing, when time permits.
