“This first-ever search for a ship’s godmother among travel agents helps bring to light all of the achievements of women whose service goes beyond travel planning,” said Lisa Bauer, senior vice president, Sales. “It will be an extremely hard decision for our panelists to select three finalists from these deserving ten, who are committed to serving their communities and embody Royal Caribbean’s dedication to the travel industry and our guests around the world.”

An esteemed panel of 19 members of the media, cruise industry executives and Royal Caribbean travel partners reviewed more than 2,500 nominations of exceptional women travel agents. The ten semi-finalists were selected based on their dedication to community service, inspiration, courage and determination. Within the next two weeks, the panelists will be interviewing each semi-finalist to further narrow the search to three outstanding women. The public will then be able to cast their vote for godmother of Liberty of the Seas from March 1 through 15 at CruisingPower website. More information about the godmother search for Liberty of the Seas and each semi-finalist are available on the cruise line’s website.
In the spirit of maritime tradition, the godmother will participate in Liberty’s naming ceremony on May 18, 2007. At 160,000 GRT and holding 3,634 guests double-occupancy, Liberty of the Seas will share the title of largest cruise ship with Freedom of the Seas when she debuts. Among new programs and onboard embellishments yet to be announced, Liberty will include the same popular innovations already found on Freedom, including the FlowRider® surf simulator; the H20 Zone aqua park; cantilevered whirlpools; suspended 112 feet above the ocean; an ice-skating rink; a boxing ring and the 1,215-square-foot Presidential Family Suite, which sleeps up to 14.
